[2023/12/23 16:06] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "Do you?" Debben answers back. "Did I buy pumpkins from you last year?"
[2023/12/23 16:07] Alicia Frakture: I swear I didn't know she had a brother
[2023/12/23 16:08] Sonja Bikergrrl: The lead man jerks his head aside. "I told you these would be easy pickings."

[2023/12/23 16:09] Sonja Bikergrrl: The man to his left isn't so sure. "You said there was two..." and the man to his right... "I ain't so sure... they look kinda tough... there's easier ways than this to turn some coins..."

[2023/12/23 16:11] Sonja Bikergrrl: "Never you mind!" growls the man, drawing out a dagger. The other two spread out, but don't look so happy - or draw any weapon yet.
[2023/12/23 16:12] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "Tell you what," Debben says, pulling her spear out from under her seat. "You're clearly street toughs looking for a payday you thought was easy. This is your first time but it's -far- from our first time with one of these. So. Tell us who sent you, and we don't have to *extract* that information from you the hard way. You can talk and just walk away."

[2023/12/23 16:18] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: She speaks this at normal volume, including it in her attempt to convince them to abandoned their assasination attempt without having to have the lesson beaten into them.
[2023/12/23 16:19] Sonja Bikergrrl: The two following seem to lose their nerve. "Fuck, I told you they were tougher than they look! Why do you think no one else has that bounty?" "Yeah, you know what, I don't like these odds!" The two run in different directions.
[2023/12/23 16:19] Sonja Bikergrrl: The guy leading them quickly reconsiders. "Fuck!" And he turns and sprints away
[2023/12/23 16:21] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: Debben raises an eyebrow. First time that's actually worked. Cool.
[2023/12/23 16:22] Sonja Bikergrrl: Katana: "I guess the fight, such as it is, is ours." Louder, she shouts: "Report yourselves to the authorities, miscreants! I know your names!"
[2023/12/23 16:22] Alicia Frakture: Leesha looks at Katana."You know they are not going to do that, right?"
[2023/12/23 16:23] Sonja Bikergrrl: Katana: "...they might... it's worth a try."

[2023/12/23 16:38] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "She's getting the trading licenses," she explains, getting some gold coins out. "Do we process that here at the gates or do I need to go into the office?"
[2023/12/23 16:39] Sonja Bikergrrl: "Here at the gates, friend, I'll sort it out."
[2023/12/23 16:39] Alicia Frakture: A silver for the cart, a gold for traders license per being, and there are 4 of us. here is 4 gold... One for each of us and a silver for the cart.
[2023/12/23 16:40] Sonja Bikergrrl: "And any spell casters?"
[2023/12/23 16:40] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: Debben will pay the 10 gold for the license. "Yes."
[2023/12/23 16:42] Sonja Bikergrrl: The guard steps into the gate house and returns a little later with parchments, stamped and inscribed on. "For you... for the spell caster... for the cart... keep hold of them, we got a record here if you lose them. Enjoy your visit."
[2023/12/23 16:44] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "Appreciated." Especially at the last time casting without a license. Such a pain in the rear. "You have a good day."
[2023/12/23 16:45] Sonja Bikergrrl: The city is as crowded and bustling as ever, and progress is slow. Where are you going to go?
[2023/12/23 16:47] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: Knowing that the talk with the noble is likely to make a mess of things, the first thing Debben wants to get to is the market proper to work on filling out the rest of her personal shopping list, and to pick up some bulk items they make locally here at good prices.
[2023/12/23 16:48] Alicia Frakture: Leesha looks around for a place to buy more food, since they are going to need it.

Birds squawk and caw, and you hear street vendors yelling, and above all, the sound of a blacksmith, clank-clank-clanka-clank over and over, a steady rhythmn of city life.
[2023/12/23 16:57] Sonja Bikergrrl: Finally, you figure you must be at the place. It's run down... not exactly a slum, but, the smart money clearly left a while back. A battered pair of doors appear to be where you want to be.

[2023/12/23 16:59] Sonja Bikergrrl: It's a big pair of doors... what are you going to do?

[2023/12/23 17:04] Sonja Bikergrrl: "Yeeerrrsssss.... is the Master expecting you...?"
[2023/12/23 17:04] Sonja Bikergrrl: Katana: "I... don't like this... there is evil here..."
[2023/12/23 17:05] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "We were invited by letter. I sent a reply back via the same courier."
[2023/12/23 17:05] Sonja Bikergrrl: "Ahhh... you'd better come in. One moment..." the hatch slams shut.
[2023/12/23 17:07] Sonja Bikergrrl: A few moments later there's grunting, the sound of bolts sliding, and the doors slowly open. The figure of a rather elderly butler is there, pushing the doors open. Inside, a gravel path winds through an unkempt garden to the house itself. "If you'll bring the cart in... I'll take care of it... and let yourself in the house... first door on your left."

[2023/12/23 17:09] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "Thank you. I'd bee wondering where I was going to keep the cart during our stay in town, this resolves the matter smoothly for us."
[2023/12/23 17:09] Sonja Bikergrrl: Dahlia: It's clear this was a magnificent garden... once. Long ago.
[2023/12/23 17:10] Sonja Bikergrrl: The butler nods. "The Master will see you in the study." He turns to take care of the horse.
[2023/12/23 17:11] Alicia Frakture: I've got a bad feeling about this.." She looks at Katana. "Aaaand you just said something along those lines."
[2023/12/23 17:12] Sonja Bikergrrl: Katana, muttering: "Aye... this place is evil, I'm telling you..."
[2023/12/23 17:12] ɗίηα ωíƖɗę ღ (kitten.venus): /me "This does seem like a creepy place.", looks around as they keep moving along trying to make sure they can get back out after entering.
[2023/12/23 17:13] Alicia Frakture: We should keep on our guard but see what is going on.
[2023/12/23 17:13] Sonja Bikergrrl: Other than the place being rather decayed and unkempt, there's no signs of anything out of the ordinary. You can still hear the city sounds
[2023/12/23 17:14] Sonja Bikergrrl: As you approach the doors of the house, you see it's flanked by two skeletons.
[2023/12/23 17:14] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: Debben doesn't detect this 'evil' Katana claims but keeps her eyes open. "Master Wellmeet?"
[2023/12/23 17:14] Alicia Frakture: Leesha is watching the skeletons
[2023/12/23 17:14] Sonja Bikergrrl: If you're calling outside, there's no sign of any response.
[2023/12/23 17:15] Sonja Bikergrrl: The skeletons just stand there, completely ignoring you. If they even know you're there.
[2023/12/23 17:15] Alicia Frakture: Leesha heads through the door. her hands flexing as if ready to reach for her wrench.
[2023/12/23 17:16] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: Where'd the buttler get off to?
[2023/12/23 17:16] Sonja Bikergrrl: The door creaks loudly, someone should oil that hinge. In the hallway... doors either side, the one on the left slightly ajar. You see a few more skeletons, again, just standing by the doorways.
[2023/12/23 17:17] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "Katana, do those seem like animated skeletons or just wrapped in wire and stood up on a stand?"
[2023/12/23 17:17] Sonja Bikergrrl: The butler is slowly leading the horse to one side of the gravel pathway
[2023/12/23 17:17] Sonja Bikergrrl: Katana: "I know not... but they're evil."
[2023/12/23 17:18] Sonja Bikergrrl: They appear to be free-standing, somehow.
[2023/12/23 17:20] Alicia Frakture: Leesha taps one of the skeletons on the head before heading through the door.
[2023/12/23 17:20] ɗίηα ωíƖɗę ღ (kitten.venus): /me looks over and examines the skeletons, "I wonder if I can turn them? well if they start moving or anything."
[2023/12/23 17:20] Sonja Bikergrrl: The skeleton doesn't respond.
[2023/12/23 17:20] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "We're guests here. It would be rude of us to do that."
[2023/12/23 17:21] Sonja Bikergrrl: The door leads into a room full of shelves... of books, scrolls, maps, notebooks, vials of ink, piles of parchments... clearly a study of some sort. There's a few threadbare chairs about the place, and a large writing desk.
[2023/12/23 17:22] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "Comfortable sort of place he's got here."
[2023/12/23 17:23] Sonja Bikergrrl: A door opens at one side and an elderly man walks in. Not quite as elderly as the butler, but still, clearly past his prime. He wears a dark suit and a dark wide-brimmed hat, looking something like an old Southern American preacher. He pauses to look at you.
[2023/12/23 17:24] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "Mister Wellmeet, I presume?
[2023/12/23 17:25] Sonja Bikergrrl: "You must be Debben," he says, taking off his hat and waving it before his knees, in a traditional dwarven greeting. "And Leesha..." he gives your shoulder a weak little tap, like a very watered down orcish greeting. He looks at Dahlia and Katana. "Sorry... I did not consider you had companions."
[2023/12/23 17:25] Sonja Bikergrrl: "Please... call me Joshua."
[2023/12/23 17:26] ɗίηα ωíƖɗę ღ (kitten.venus): /me looks toward the man and watches everything about him. "I'm Dahlia and nice to meet you Joshua.", she spoke in a friendly way though still not comfortable in this odd building
[2023/12/23 17:27] Sonja Bikergrrl: To Dahlia: "These aren't the woods you are comfortable in... sorry, I didn't get your name?"
[2023/12/23 17:28] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "And our fourth is Katana," Debben introduces. "Though, I wonder how you came to know of Leesha and myself in the first place."
[2023/12/23 17:28] Alicia Frakture: That's a good question
[2023/12/23 17:29] ɗίηα ωíƖɗę ღ (kitten.venus): /me "I'm Dahlia and I love much more of this plane than just the woods.", she seemed to giggle a bit and then went back to listening
[2023/12/23 17:30] Sonja Bikergrrl: "Dahlia, Katana... well met. And yes, I shall answer all your questions. But please, be seated, can I offer refreshments? And I'll tell you all about it, suffice to say, you are in great danger. But I'll explain all I know and what I offer and what I ask."
